Sound Monitoring
John V. Dinan Associates provides sound monitoring for various types of projects. We supply all personnel and equipment, which includes a professional portable sound level meter to record measure, analyze, and report on all sound due to construction activities and / or ambient noise. Ambient noise level is also known as background noise. Ambient noise levels may be measured to provide a reference point for analyzing an intrusive sound to a given environment such a pile driving, rock blasting, construction equipment, mechanical equipment, etc.
The maximum sound levels permitted within the upper octave bands are established by the NYC Building Code for eight different Octave Bands. In order to make sure that we have collected the most accurate data, one set of eight tests of sound level data for each frequency are collected for each location. The slow response setting and the “A” weighted network of the sound level meter are also utilized. The results are presented in a comprehensive report including graphs along with the original data collected. John V. Dinan Associates also provides a normal amount of consultation related to the review and/or analysis of the data presented in the report.
